Today I want to admit something….
I’ve been found guilty as charged doing this almost every single time until it finally dawned on me as to how much it robbed me of my own creativity!
What???
I hear you say…. What are you talking about?
This blog post is kinda crazy, in fact it’s kinda so obvious that it makes it all the more ‘Light Bulb Moment’ types!
Today I want to tell you something that most bloggers will have to admit of having done at least once in their lives…and that is…
Almost 95% of us (the blogging community) who blog or write blogs, write their blog posts online! Duh!
Has it even occurred to you as to how much it robs you of your own creativity?
You see, creativity & great work cannot happen in an environment, where there is:
1. Time Pressure – You see, for creativity to bloom, and for you to bring the best out of you, you need to be in an environment where you are not bogged down by any time constraints. You need to set yourself free of time and get into a state of flow (Sports Person’s would state it as – Getting Into & Being In The Zone)
2. Mental Clutter & Noise – If you are constantly thinking about too many things, multi-tasking all the time and have a lot of things running inside that little skull of yours….you have a problem. If you are writing a post online, you will be more vulnerable to all the mental clutter and noise going around you! Don’t worry my friend! Even I was guilty of that before… Not anymore once I realised how much of all the goodness I was missing!
3. Constant Interruptions – Visualise this… You are writing a post online. You have multiple tabs or windows open. While writing, you suddenly receive a cool mail from a friend of yours & you open your Gmail tab! You find something cool that your friend has sent you. You open the mail. There is a cool video in it. So you click the link to watch that YouTube video your friend sent. BAM! Before you even realise it…all of a sudden, your work has gone into the backgound mode.
Does this sound familiar to you? Are you also a victim of this?
If you are not…
CONGRATULATIONS! MY FRIEND! You are a part of the ELITE FEW who take their work seriously & love to add VALUE to their tribe, their community. I know, you love to add value too, just that maybe you were ignorant or unaware of this little thingy that was robbing you of your preciousness!
You are important you see…much more that you might think!
I hope that you will take a VOW – RIGHT NOW that – YOU WILL NEVER EVER EVER IN YOUR ENTIRE STANDING LIFE AS A BLOGGER EVER WRITE A POST ONLINE!
Instead, you will rather write your stuff OFFLINE on a word document or maybe even on a piece of paper, spend time writing it fully doing nothing else & then once you are done, you will then go online to publish your content.
In my next blog post, I will talk to you about how you can write stuff offline that truly connects with your readers, creates a wonderful relationship with them, so that you can make a difference to their lives!
I know how much important it is to INJECT value into the lives of people who spend time with you either reading or watching the stuff you write, produce or create.
